Taking advice from my great uncle my machining career began at the career center in Knox County Ohio. His comment “if you can make something, you will always have a job” stuck with me. The education coupled with co-op employment at a local job shop helped start my career, and prepared me for 24 years at a world class gas compressor manufacturer. My time there began on manual machining equipment transitioning into CNC. The company began modernizing purchasing CNC equipment with an old school workforce. This provided me with many opportunities to learn CNC setup, programming, and operations. Modernization continued with lean manufacturing methods such as JIT, SMED, Work cell design, Fixture design, Lean, 5S, and 6 Sigma. The past 24 years has honed my manufacturing knowledge not only on machines, but overall manufacturing skill and philosophies.
